Giving back to the North Texas community

Posted by on May 22, 2013

Last Friday, Marketwave team members took part in a morning of community service at the North Texas Food Bank. Organized by the Entrepreneurs for North Texas, our team was assigned a pretty ‘cool’ job – freezer duty! The NTFB needed our help organizing and packaging the frozen meat that had been donated from various grocery stores and other organizations. Ready to get to work, we zipped up our parkas and headed for the chilly freezer.

Oversized bins filled with frozen foods awaited us inside. After a few hours spent sorting, packaging and moving the donated items as a group, we completed what would have taken one person more than a week to finish. In total, our morning volunteer shift packaged 5,400 pounds of meat and provided approximately 4,500 meals to the people of North Texas.

Giving back to our community is a core value here at Marketwave and being able help the North Texas Food Bank was an opportunity we all enjoyed. With the hot summer months upon us, freezer duty was definitely a great place to work!

  1. Love it! Great post! It feels great being a part of a company that really cares about its community. May favorite way of ‘paying it forward’ is with animal rescue groups. 🙂
