A Marketwave healthcare case study: BRI interactive report

We’re all fans of impactful brevity. Content that subscribes to the “less is more” notion tends to be more relevant, engaging and memorable.

And that’s just what happened when Baylor Research Institute (BRI) asked us to transform their 75-page annual report into an engaging digital piece. The report came to us as a data-rich heap of copy, but we shaped it to its most compelling core for a clean, easy-to-navigate HTML experience.

THE ASSIGNMENT
In early 2012, BRI released their 2011 Annual Report, a print piece that detailed the people, the milestones and the supporters behind BRI’s contributions to medical research. But while the booklet served BRI well in print, the company sought a way to digitally convey the data in an accessible, sharable method that would engage BRI’s network of consumers, physicians and supporters.

THE CONCEPT
Marketwave developed an experiential platform that digitally communicated BRI’s annual report data. The team ventured away from a static PDF to an interactive, HTML product designed to live on the website for an extended shelf life. We carefully selected the most compelling visuals from the print piece and gave them interactive life and functionality while adhering to the original piece’s look and feel.

RESULTS
The resulting product was overwhelmingly well-received by BRI physicians, investigators and staff. We provided both a consumer- and physician-friendly piece that visually told the story of BRI’s impact, without compromising the content or look and feel from the original annual report. The report has received accolades across the Baylor network, and has been externally and internally shared with supporters, colleagues, partners and staff.
